Endeane

This is a freelance 009 project started on baseboards and track originally built by another Club Member and then abandoned. This iteration began as a working water mill and it’s environs and gradually evolved to include a small loco depot, a goods yard and a canal side dock. The train control is via DCC and points etc operated by small R/C servos using MERG EzyBus modules. Rolling stock consists of two Bachmann Double Fairlies, a Bachmann Baldwin 10-12-D and a Mainline Hunslet which can be coupled to four L&B coaches and various small wagons.

After a few hectic weeks of effort completing the water features, adding foliage etc and placing all the small items like bridges, level crossings, the canal boat the layout was ready for it’s first outing. It was displayed in a stall as part of the local Artisan Street Fayre and performed really well, naturally there were teething problems but it was a good day. Now for further fettling and detailing.

This layout was shown at Stalham High School in October 2024 to introduce aspects of Railway Modelling to the students who are going to be building a layout over the next academic year under direction of members of the BMRC.

The layout was given it’s first exhibition outing at the Norfolk Railway Society Show in Wymondham on 8th March. A really good outing and it gained quite a lot of interest and performed really well. The operators became more & more experienced and ambitious, there were three trains running simultaneously at one point! It still needs more scenic work with details like trackside detritus, people, an allotment and a station building, hopefully this will be done in time for its next showingsw at Catfiled Village Fete and the Stalham Artisan Street Fayre.
